Cross Country Championships

VRUK cross country teams at the regional and national championships this winter – would you like to be a member of the team? The southern regional event (where the club is registered) is on Saturday 28 January 2017 at Hampstead Heath, London with separate events for male, female, U-17 & U-20.

Members must be registered via the club with UKA / EA. Peter Simpson is now taking entries as team organiser, the price is £7, pay into VRUK bank account or paypal account, details to be given in a PM if required. Your payment to the Club must be received by 11 Dec otherwise e-mail or post Facebook message to Peter in advance indicating your interest and when paid.

  • Start times are in the afternoon, women 2.05pm (8K), men 2.50pm (15K)
  • Off-road shoes strongly recommended
  • No limit on numbers of runners in the teams, the men’s scoring team is usually the first 6 to finish and for women the first 4 to finish
  • Race numbers and timing chips to be collected on the day

The Southern Masters Championships is scheduled for 10 December 2016, venue Horspath, Oxford. Eligible runners for the VRUK teams must be 40+ for male and female and registered via the club with UKA / EA. The Masters Men’s event for runners in their 50s or 60s (distance 10K) is scheduled for an 11am start, the women’s masters event for all runners over 40 and men over 70 (distance 6K) is scheduled for 11:43am and the Masters Men’s event for runners in their 40s (distance 10K) is scheduled for 2.10pm.

The timetable is shared with the Southern Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships with some races starting less than 5 minutes apart. Peter Simpson, the team organiser is taking entries, the entry fee is £8 and must be paid by 21 November into the VRUK bank account or by paypal, details can be given in a personal message as required.
